Natural Cures for Diabetes

Type 2 Diabetes is a disease that people may be at risk for if they are obese, have high blood pressure, high fat levels in their blood, an inactive lifestyle, drink a lot of alcohol, are above age 45, and a part of certain ethnic groups that are more prone to diabetes. Diabetes may be treated with traditional medicine, diet and exercise, and with some natural cures for diabetes as well.

Diabetes may be treated with a variety of traditional and other methods. Before starting a natural cure for diabetes or any type of treatment, a person should consult with his or her doctor.

Natural Methods to Cure or Treat Diabetes

There are many methods that can be used as natural cures or treatments for diabetes. Some of these methods include:

Acupuncture – Acupuncture has been used for a very long time to treat various ailments. It has been shown in various studies to give relief from chronic pain. Diabetes can unfortunately, cause its sufferers to experience chronic pain.

Biofeedback – Biofeedback is a method of visualization with guided imagery that is designed to reduce stress and allow the patient to relax. It is similar to meditation.

Ginseng – According to some studies, American ginseng seems to have some glucose-lowering abilities. However, the actual level of effectiveness seems to vary to a large degree from ginseng crop to ginseng crop.

Magnesium – A deficiency in magnesium seems to cause type 2 diabetes to worsen. Although the reason behind this isn’t fully understood, introducing foods that are high in magnesium seems to help with some cases of type 2 diabetes.

Vanadium – Vanadium has been shown to normalize glucose levels in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. However, these studies have been limited to animals thus far so it has yet to be proven as a natural cure for diabetes in humans.

Chromium – Chromium is still being studied for its effects on diabetes. There have been indications that it may help to normalize glucose levels however this has not yet been proven.

Coenzyme Q10 – This is a vitamin-like substance that is found in fish. It has been touted as a natural cure for diabetes however; its effectiveness has not been demonstrated in studies.

Regardless of the natural treatment or cure for diabetes used, the diabetes patient should consult with his or her doctor before starting any type of treatment. Just because something is marketed as “natural” does not mean it’s safe or that it works.

Steve @ 11:58 am:

I have type 2 diabetes. When I was diagnosed my A1c was 13.7. I did all the things the doctor recommended (better diet, exercise and three different medications) After 6 months my A1c was 8.7. I then started taking aproduct called Kyani with a diabetic multivitamin from Nature Made. My A1c is now 4.7. I also have reduced my medication more than half. I don’t think any one of the steps I took was a miracle cure. It was the combination of every thing. My blood sugar stays in a good range, my high blood pressure is perfect and my triglycerides are in line. I think there are ways to control diabetes but it takes effort and the right combination.
