Are You Experiencing The Symptoms of Fibromyalgia?

Have you been wondering lately if you might possibly have fibromyalgia and would like to see the symptoms in front of you so you can decide whether or not you should explore this condition and the possible personal diagnosis of it for yourself? Well, wonder no more because below you will find a thorough discussion of the most common symptoms of the condition, fibromyalgia. Make notes along the margins if you wish and bring this paper into your doctor when you are ready to have the fibromyalgia discussion with your doctor.

There are many, many different symptoms of fibromyalgia. It is a condition that affects your entire body. It is also a condition that you can feel different from one day to the next. You may have mild symptoms on Monday and severe symptoms on Tuesday. If you are young your main symptoms may be an all-over pain or ache that is constant but changing in intensity. You may have overlapping symptoms that can make it difficult to figure out exactly what is happening to your body. If you are a woman your symptoms may intensify during your menstrual cycle or during pregnancy or menopause.

There are many conditions that mimic the symptoms of fibromyalgia and many associated conditions that can occur at the same time that you have the condition fibromyalgia such as having sleep apnea or irritable bowel syndrome at the same time that you are suffering from fibromyalgia.

Not all of the common symptoms of fibromyalgia are experienced by all those who are diagnosed with the condition. You and your friend my have different symptoms and perhaps one or two similar symptoms and still both be diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

The most commonly discussed symptoms between patient and doctor when it comes to fibromyalgia are widespread pain that covers most of your body, extreme fatigue that keeps you from performing daily tasks, morning stiffness in your joints or muscles, vision difficulties, weight gain or loss, nausea, sleep difficulties, urinary or pelvic problems, dizziness, anxiety or depression, chronic cold symptoms, TJDS, multiple chemical sensitivities or sensitivities to cold, light, sounds or odors, and also muscle twitches or muscle weakness, skin rashes or other skin complaints, and myofascial pain (jaw and facial pain), chest pain or difficulties breathing such as shortness of breath and certain cognitive difficulties such as memory fogginess.

It is a good idea to keep a symptom journal when you first notice that you are having difficulties. Record the symptom, when it started, how long it lasts and what you did to try to relieve it and if that helped at all. Record how the symptoms affect your daily activities and if they worsen over time. If you notice a pattern of repeated symptoms and are concerned about them, seek the advice of a medical doctor. Bring this symptom journal with you to the doctor visit so that it can be useful in explaining why you are concerned. The doctor will be able to use your record of symptoms along with a physical examination and possible tests to determine a diagnosis. You may have fibromyalgia or you may have one of the many other conditions and illnesses that mimic some of the symptoms of fibromyalgia. Your doctor will be able to determine what your symptoms mean and help you to design a treatment plan to help relieve those symptoms and give you back the quality of life that you deserve.

Thanks for the article on something that affects so many without much on treatment options. My sister in law has fibro and CFS and I recently let her borrow my Topricin pain cream and she said that it really helped! Maybe this would help others? Thanks again for the insight.
