Major Menopause Symptoms and How You Can Identify Them

Menopause is a condition that every woman on Earth goes through at some point. It comes with being female. Lots of women do everything they can think of to delay it, but the fact is that, at some point down the road, their bodies will stop having their monthly cycles. The start of menopause can be traumatic for many women especially if they are unfamiliar with menopause symptoms. Everyone has heard about what women go through when they go through "the change" but what symptoms should we be on the lookout for? Keep reading to learn for yourself!

One of the most recognizable menopause symptom is the "hot flash". A hot flash is best described as the "sudden onset of heat" feelings. It causes the face to flush and the body to sweat. It will feel, just for a moment or two, as if a person had suddenly and quickly turned your body’s temperature up too high. Some will tell you that it is not all that different than a hyped up version of the feeling you get when you leave a cold room and go out into a hot sunny day. Hot flashes can occur at any point during the day or the night. Night time hot flashes are usually called "night sweats."

One of the really embarrassing menopause symptoms is incontinence. Menopause causes the loss of smooth muscle tone and incontinence is a side effect of that.

It happens most often upon sneezing or even strong laughter. Women experience this symptom of menopause to varying degrees. Some women will have a harder time with this symptom than others. Some people deal with it in extreme form. Don’t be too hard on a woman if she has to wear panty liners or other types of protective wear or if she has to find a bathroom whenever she sneezes.

One of the most famous symptoms of menopause is irritability. Do you remember the beginnings of puberty when, without warning, just about everything seemed to be annoying as all get out? This is just about the same thing that a woman feels when she starts to go through the first stages of menopause. If you know a woman is about the right age for menopause and she is suddenly acting like everything is irritating or annoying when she usually is pretty easy going, this might not be PMS. It might be a sign of the onset of menopause. Menopause symptoms are widely varied. No two women will have the exact same menopause experiences. For some women, the symptoms are only mild. Other women have symptoms that are incredibly intense. Understanding the symptoms of menopause can do quite a lot both for you (if you are going through it) and the people in your life (who will be helping you through it). These are just some of the symptoms you might go through. Talk to your doctor for more information on the symptoms that you should be watching for.
