Reiki works by life force flowing through the physical body pathways, known as ‘Chakras’, ‘meridians’ and ‘nadis’. Reiki also flows around us in a field of energy known as the Aura. The Life Force nourishes the body’s organs and our body’s cells, whilst supporting them in their essential functions. If this flow of life becomes disrupted, it can cause diminished function in one or more of the organs or tissues around the physical body.

Reiki’s life force can respond to thoughts and feeling. If we accept consciously or unconscious negative thoughts or feelings about ourselves or others, it can become disrupted. The negative thoughts and feelings can attach to the energy field, causing a disruption in the force of the flow of life.

The free flow of live force energy is facilitated through Reiki through the affected parts of the energy field, charging them with a positive energy. The vibratory level of the energy field is raised in and around the physical body where negative thoughts and feeling are attached. Due to this the negative energy breaks apart and falls away. Reiki straightens, clears whilst harmonising the energy pathways allowing life force to flow in a natural, healthy way.
 
All healers use the Life Force or Ki, although not all use Reiki. Reiki is a special type of life force that can only be channelled by a practitioner who has been attuned to it. It is believed that some people are born with the gift of Reiki. Many healers who have not received the Reiki attunement from a Reili Master are actually using another type of force other than Reiki.

Those who are already practicing healing work consistently state that they gain at least a 50% increase in the strength of their healing energies following their Reiki training.

Reiki is guided by the ‘God Consciousness’ therefore it can never do any harm. Reiki always knows what the recipient requires and it will adjust itself to create the appropriate affect for that person. A practitioner never needs to worry whether or not to give Reiki or not as it is always helpful. Because a practitioner does not direct the energy required and does not decide what area of the body to concentrate on or harmonise, the practitioner is not in any danger of taking on karma of the recipient. The practitioner is not doing the healing, so it is much easier for ego to stay out of the way, allowing the presence of God to shine clearly through.

Due to the fact that energy is channelled, the energies of a Reiki Practitioner are never depleted. The consciousness of Reiki considers the practitioner and the recipient to be in need of energy to they both receive therapy. Giving therapy always increases energy and leaves the recipient surrounded with love, well-being and warmth.
